Lakehurst Residence: A Modern Escape on Lake Travis

Perched above the shoreline in Spicewood, Texas, the Lakehurst Residence is a modern lakeside home designed to embrace the surrounding landscape while offering a refined living experience. Situated on 1.24 acres within the Lakeway ETJ, the home is carefully positioned above the 715-foot contour line, preserving unobstructed views of Lake Travis and respecting the site’s natural topography and floodplain limits.

The three-story layout organizes the home vertically, with private bedrooms and recreational areas on the lower level, main living spaces and kitchen on the second, and a secluded primary suite on the top floor. Thoughtful spatial planning allows each level to open outward, blurring the lines between indoors and out. Patios, decks, and water features are seamlessly integrated to create a sense of immersion in nature.

Architecturally, the residence blends warm limestone and sleek metal accents, echoing the rugged textures of Central Texas while maintaining a contemporary edge. Expansive glazing frames the landscape and floods the interiors with natural light, aided by clerestory windows and a central light well. Every design move—from the entry bridge to the tiered terraces—serves the larger goal of creating a serene, modern retreat that feels deeply connected to its place.
