The Alley - A Welcoming Space for Community and Comfort
We’re excited to be working with The Valley on their second location, situated in Sunset Valley City. Formerly a mattress store, the site features a long, deep floor plan and a prominent corner location. One of its standout features is the expansive storefront, lined with full-height windows that offer excellent visibility and street exposure—an ideal setup for drawing in foot traffic.
Given the store’s larger-than-average footprint for a boba tea shop, our design strategy focused on maximizing openness and flexibility. By varying ceiling heights, flooring materials, and furniture types, we created distinct zones—each with its own character and function—while maintaining a cohesive and airy overall feel. Whether for lounging, working, or ordering, each space remains visually connected while serving a specific purpose.
To activate the storefront, we placed low sofas and bar seating that invite casual hangouts and remote work. On the opposite wall, a long built-in bench with movable tables offers flexible group or solo seating. A central product display adds interest and engages customers as they wait. We also collaborated with the franchisor to streamline the open bar layout for staff efficiency and smooth service during peak times.
This new store is designed to serve a variety of needs—whether for a quick stop, social gathering, or extended work session. With its natural materials, open layout, and strong street presence, it aims to be more than a boba shop: a vibrant and welcoming community space. We look forward to seeing it open and thriving in Sunset Valley City.
